Roadmap
Everything Mactivity can do today, what we’re building now, and the rules we build by. Updates are free for as long as you own a license.

In the next update
What we're building now. Updates are free with your license, so these arrive on their own.
- Next updateBig files you forgot
The largest files you haven't opened in a year, wherever they are, with a Trash button for each.
- Next updateDuplicate files
Copies of the same file across your folders, with the extra copies offered for the Trash.
- Next updateCloud folders, sized
How much iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive keep downloaded on this Mac, and which files you could leave in the cloud.
- Next updateMore in Shortcuts and Siri
Ask for your day, what's out of the ordinary, or your agents' week from Shortcuts and Siri.
- Next updateInteractive widgets
Turn Stay Awake on or off, and open Your day, right from a widget.
- Next updateYour own shortcuts
Choose the keys for Quick Search, Clean Keyboard, Stay Awake and any page of the app.
- Next updateQuiet while you present
Alerts wait while you share your screen, present or record, and arrive once you're done.
- Next updateCompare two Macs
Export a report on one Mac and open it on another to put them side by side. A file you move yourself, never a cloud account.
Understand your Mac
The core of Mactivity: what's using your Mac right now, and why.
- AvailableApps, not process lists
Helpers, renderers and background services add up under the app that launched them, for processor, memory, energy, disk, network and graphics.
- AvailableOne-click diagnosis
Why is my Mac slow? names the cause in plain words, from a runaway app or tight memory to Spotlight indexing, with a button to act on each.
- AvailableCheckup
A short list of what deserves your attention: a disk close to capacity, crashing apps, broken startup items, a gap in your history.
- AvailableNotice slow drift
Checkup points out an app whose memory has crept up over the weeks, and a battery that empties faster than it did.
- AvailableBrowser breakdown
Expand Safari, Chrome or any Chromium browser and its tab processes, extensions, GPU process and network service each get their own line. Electron apps split into windows and helpers.
- AvailableApps you forgot
Apps sitting open for days, still holding memory, each with what quitting would free.
- AvailableYour next Mac
From a week or a month of use, the chip class, memory and storage to look for in a new Mac, and which Mac to get, laptop or desktop, counting the displays on your desk and how often the lid stays closed, as a one-page PDF.
- AvailableDisplays and devices
Every display with its resolution, scaling, refresh rate and connection, each port and what's on it, the USB and Thunderbolt devices plugged in, and whether the lid is closed.
- AvailableReports
Save the last 7 or 30 days as a two-page PDF: the figures, the busiest hour and the apps behind it, top apps by every measure.
- AvailableAsk by typing (optional)
If you switch it on in Settings, Quick Search can answer questions using Apple Intelligence on your Mac, about now, any day this week, or your coding agents. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- AvailableSlowdowns you missed
Open the diagnosis after the moment has passed and it still answers: the times in the last week your Mac struggled, how long each lasted, and the apps that were busiest.
- AvailableA slow login, explained
After a restart, see how long your Mac took to calm down and which apps kept it busy, with the ones that open at login marked.
- AvailableOut of the ordinary
Each app's usual day, learned on your Mac, and a note when today isn't one: on Overview, in Checkup, on each app's history, and as an alert.
- AvailableYour day
Any day on the calendar as a timeline: wakes and sleep, busy stretches and slowdowns with their apps, charging, big downloads, alerts, crashes and agent sessions.
- AvailableRewind
Click any bar in a history chart to see the apps behind that moment.
- AvailableEvery app's own history
Right-click any app for its last 7, 30 or 90 days: processor, memory, energy and network, time in front, crashes, and the hours of the week it works hardest.
- AvailableAfter an update
When macOS or an app updates, the days after are compared with the days before, so you know whether the update made it heavier or lighter.
- AvailableCompare any two days
Two days or two weeks side by side: processor, memory, battery, and the apps that changed the most between them.
- AvailableBeachballs, counted
Apps that stopped responding: how often, and whether it's getting worse, from the reports macOS already keeps.
- AvailableUnexpected restarts, explained
When your Mac restarted on its own, the reason macOS recorded, and what was running just before.
- AvailableApp launch times
How long each app takes to open, and a note when one starts taking noticeably longer than it used to.
- AvailablemacOS's own work, named
Busy system processes in plain words: Spotlight indexing, Photos analyzing your library, Time Machine backing up.
- AvailableFlagged by macOS
What macOS itself caught: an app writing tens of gigabytes to disk, going past its processor limit again and again, apps closed because memory ran out.
- ExploringYour month
A look back at each month: the busiest days, apps that came and went, your agents' hours and the slowdowns.
- ExploringNotes on your history
Pin a note to any moment, like “installed the new driver”, and see it on the charts and on Your day.
Built for developers
For Macs that run dev servers, containers and coding agents all day.
- AvailableDev servers by project
Every process listening on a port, grouped by the project folder it runs in, with idle detection and Stop, always after asking.
- AvailableContainers
Docker, OrbStack, Colima and Rancher containers with their processor and memory use.
- AvailableCoding agents
Sessions of Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Aider and others: project, host app, run time, and the cost of everything each one started. Stop a whole session in one step.
- AvailableAgent history
Each agent's sessions remembered by project: time, processor and peak memory for the week, day by day, and each session on Your day.
- AvailableTalk to your agents
mactivity mcplets your coding agent check the Mac for itself, read-only. - AvailableCapture a moment
Record every second's figures to a CSV while a build runs or something feels off.

mactivity top, system, projects, agents, dayandunusual, with JSON output for scripts. - AvailableCatch runaway processes
An alert when a node, python or similar process sits at a full core or keeps swelling in memory, naming its project and the agent that started it.
- AvailableBuild times
Every Xcode, Swift, Rust, Go and JavaScript build timed per project, with its processor and memory, so you can see when builds started getting slower.
- AvailableSpace per project
node_modules, DerivedData, target, Python environments and other build folders sized for each project, with the ones you haven't touched in two months moved to the Trash together, after you confirm.
- AvailableDocker disk use
Images, volumes, build cache and stopped containers, what nothing uses, and the command that reclaims each, for you to run.
- AvailableHomebrew services
What
brew servicesstarted, its ports, memory and processor, when it was last busy, and the command that stops it. - AvailableSimulators and emulators
Every iOS Simulator device and Android emulator, what the running ones hold, the ones left running after you closed Simulator, and the space each takes.
- AvailableAgent limits
An alert when a coding agent's processes hold more memory than you set, or a session runs longer than you set.
- AvailableDev tools left running
Language servers, file watchers and test runners by project, including VS Code's and Cursor's, and the ones still running after their editor or terminal quit.
- ExploringLinux machines
Per-machine figures for OrbStack's Linux machines, alongside their containers.
Battery, heat and sleep
Power figures that explain themselves.
- AvailableBattery use by app
Each app's portion of the battery over a day or a week, and since you last took the Mac off its charger.
- AvailableStay awake on demand
Hold off sleep for an hour or more, or until you switch it off. It lets go on its own when the battery gets low or the Mac heats up.
- AvailableSleep, explained
What's stopping the Mac from sleeping, and whether it slept last night.
- AvailableHeat and fans
Sensor readings, how fast each fan spins and the thermal state, with an alert if the Mac stays hot.

Each sleep with what ended it: the lid, a key, the network, Bluetooth or a USB device.
- AvailableBattery lost while asleep
How much charge your Mac used with the lid closed, and what woke it to use it.
- AvailableCharger check
Plugged in, whether your charger covers what your Mac is drawing, and when macOS is holding the battery short of full.

- ExploringMore languages
Swedish, Polish, Turkish and others, as people ask for them.
How we decide
- Your data stays on your Mac. No analytics, no cloud features, no accounts. The only times Mactivity contacts a server on its own are update and license checks; host-name lookups happen only if you enable them.
- No subscriptions, and nothing billed by use. You pay once. We won't add features that would need a monthly fee to run.
- Nothing is erased behind your back. Files go to the Trash, and apps and servers stop only after you confirm.
- Watch the hardware, don't drive it. Mactivity reads fans, temperatures and batteries; it never sets fan speeds or charging limits.
- Light enough to forget. A monitor shouldn't be the thing slowing your Mac down.
